One Woman Trying to Make a Difference

Ann's Angels Adaptive Waterski Foundation

Mission:To promote pubic awareness about children and adults with disabilities through the sport of water skiing and wakeboarding.

Ann's Angels Waterski Foundation is based in Winter Haven, Florida and provides adaptive waterski events and clinics for children and adults with disabilities including our military veterans.  This program provides a therapeutic recreation that reduces anxiety and depression while improving the well-being and quality of life.

All equipment and personnel are provided to hold safe water ski events for organizations and adaptive sports programs that want to provide this recreational sport to their community free of charge to the adaptive participants and their families.

This organization carries on the work and dream of Ann O'Brine Satterfield 1949-2015, founder of UCanSki2. Her vision was to reach those who could benefit from programs like hers, that teach others how to "live again through the sport of water skiing." An avid competitor in the National Disabled Water Ski Championships, she left a legacy of impressive records as an adaptive skier during a 30 year span, including induction into the Florida Water Ski Hall of Fame.

Ann was devoted to advocating for integrating disabled athletes into the mainstream by promoting sports and recreation for people with disabilities. Ann referred to her all volunteer team as "Angels", thus the meaning behind Ann's Angels who continue to change lives through adaptive water skiing and their passion.  If you go to any of their clinics, the smiles on the faces say it all.

We met Ann shortly after my son, Steven Walker became a new quad amputee and they instantly became  friends. We never missed a waterskiing clinic and she saw the athletic potential in him. She pushed him to challenge himself to do jumps and higher level moves.  He had never water skiied before his new life and
Ann opened a new door for him.  He had an open invitation to come down to her lake house or to any of her clinics and waterski. He shared his new activity with other amputees and fellow wheelchair rugby players he introduced to the sport.

A great quote from Ann: I've learned that people will forget what you said, forget what you did, but will never forget how you made them feel."

Please consider donating to this great program!  Any donation is not too small and will impact lives in a huge way. Ann's Angels AWF is a 501c3 Nonprofit all volunteer team and all their events and clinics are free.  All donations are tax deductible.  Donations can be  made on line at:
